Daniel shared his biblical insights with his congregation before the 1992 presidential election. These understandings and principles hold true today just as much as they did 30 years ago.

I acknowledge that we may be getting into a controversial area, an area of several possible “vantage points.”  I don’t really intend to select an issue that will create two polarized sides and divide people, nor is it my intention to finally throw my weight on one side or the other. Really what I am going to do is eliminate both sides of the issue. It will be a disappointment for anyone who is expecting me to favor one or the other.

I bring this issue up, not because I have, as the Bible says, a morbid interest in controversies. There are some supposed teachers of the gospel who have a misplaced excitement about getting into controversial topics and are more than happy to share their opinions. This isn’t my interest at all. I am just interested in teaching the Bible, and especially teaching the Bible as it relates to the whole political arena.  – Daniel A Brown
